Municipal Court
Judgement of Ordinance Violations
The City of Edwardsville has established a Municipal Court for the administrative adjudication of ordinance violations. This means that most citations for ordinance violations are processed through the City’s Municipal Court system, rather than through the Madison County Circuit Court. Any violation of a state law, such as a speeding ticket, will still be adjudicated through the Circuit Court.
Possible Citations
Citations adjudicated in the Municipal Court may include, for example, the following:
- Derelict Vehicle Complaints
- Disorderly Conduct Complaints, Including Loud Party or Barking Dog Complaints
- Leash Law Violations
- Littering
- Parking Tickets
- Property Maintenance Complaints
- Underage Consumption or Possession of Alcohol
- Underage Possession of Tobacco Products
The Court is presided over by an Administrative Hearing Officer and administered by the City’s Ordinance Enforcement Department. The Ordinance Enforcement Department maintains all court records and ensures orderly conduct of court sessions.

Municipal Court is held in the Council Chambers at City Hall at 4 p.m., every other Thursday throughout the year.
