Learn to Skate Classes

The R.P. Lumber Center has Learn to Skate options for all interests, ages and abilities: recreational, hockey and figure skating. Private lessons also are available. Class options vary per session, so check back often.

Private lessons

We have several instructors who offer private lessons to help skaters improve their skills with more individualized attention. All instructors are private contractors and work independently of the R.P. Lumber Center and the City of Edwardsville when conducting private lessons. Shine on Ice Program

In early 2023, the R.P. Lumber Center introduced Shine on Ice, a program for young people with disabilities to experience the joys of ice skating in a safe and welcoming environment. The eight weekly hourlong sessions include games, skating instruction and a chance to gain confidence on the ice.  Learn how this program came about. Questions? Email Phil Zamora, R.P.
