The West End Service Station is the City of Edwardsville's Route 66 visitor center. This longtime service station was a pit stop for residents and visitors traveling through Edwardsville on Route 66 until the early 1960s, when the "Mother Road" bypassed the City decades after becoming America's most famous byway. The site was purchased and restored with the help of Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau. It reopened in June 2023 and offers visitors a nostalgic window into the past and glory of Route 66 and historic Edwardsville.
