Stop the Bleed is a national program that continues to empower the general public to make a difference in a life-threatening emergency by teaching them the basic techniques of bleeding control.

Annual Campaign to Raise Awareness 

Since 2019, May has been designated as National Stop the Bleed Month.

During this month:

  • This nationwide campaign will highlight the importance of Stop the Bleed training and provide the public with information and education through local fire, EMS, and health care professionals.
  • FREE Bleeding Control Basics classes will be offered to the public, furthering the goal of the American College of Surgeons to train everyone in the U.S. about what to do during a bleeding emergency.

Get Involved with this Lifesaving Program

The Edwardsville Fire Department partners with other area medical providers and first responders to offer Stop the Bleed classes. These one-hour classes are geared to ages 13 and up. Scheduled classes will be posted on this page as they become available.

Prior registration is recommended to ensure seating. (See the "Upcoming Events" box, above, to register online.) For questions about the Stop the Bleed program, call 618-692-7540. To register for a class at Anderson Hospital, please call 618-391-6516.
