Biography
Jay Keeven has enjoyed a comprehensive policing career with the Illinois State Police, a nationally recognized and accredited agency, providing senior management and leadership in the fields of administration, patrol, intelligence and investigations - achieving the rank of Major. Keeven resigned from the Illinois State Police after accepting the position of Director of Police for the City of Edwardsville during February, 2013.
Awards & Security Clearance
Throughout the course of his more than twenty-nine year career, Keeven received numerous awards and commendations from the United States Department of Justice, Illinois State Police, multi-jurisdictional drug task forces and local service organizations. He has maintained a security clearance from the Federal Bureau of Investigations since 2003.
Education
Chief Keeven holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, Specializing in Finance, from Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville and a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration from the University of Louisville. He is also a graduate of the Southern Police Institute.
Personal Life
Chief Keeven lives in Edwardsville with his wife Shelly and their three children: Emily, Maggie and Dane. Keeven finds value in a life of public service and truly enjoys serving the citizens of and visitors to, the City of Edwardsville.
