It’s Featured Firefighter Friday!
Today we introduce you to Firefighter/Paramedic Derek Huber, who is in his 23rd year of service with the Edwardsville Fire Department. Huber was appointed to the department in June 2000.
Before being hired for a full-time position, Huber served as a volunteer firefighter for Edwardsville. He also previously worked in emergency medical services with Abbott Ambulance Service.
“Being an Edwardsville firefighter can be challenging at times because you never know what type of emergency you may be responding to," Huber said. "I also enjoy working with the public teaching CPR, AED and Stop the Bleed classes. The Public Safety Building on Main Street provides a great classroom environment for us to teach these skills to our citizens.”
Huber has been married to his wife, Brandy, for 25 years, and they have two children.
Please join us in celebrating this valued team member in the Edwardsville Fire Department. Thanks for all you do, Firefighter/Paramedic Huber!
